Duan Chun Zhen Noodle House: Reviews & Ratings
I came here craving for authentic Taiwanese food and it hit the spot. The service was quick and friendly. I will definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu.
I love this place. I always visit whenever I come up to the Bay Area for business trips. The cold tofu with century egg appetizer, XLB and pork chop was flavorful and delicious. Of course, the highlights are the noodles. Both the tomato soup and braised beef with tendons satisfied my belly and soul. Service is also awesome. I’ll continue to make my visits here whenever I’m in the area, hoping one day to try everything on the menu.
I kept seeing this place on XHS and decided to stop by for Saturday lunch. The restaurant was still super busy at 1PM with a virtual waitlist you check into when you arrive. However, the table turnover is fast so we waited only about 5-8min even with 7 parties in front of us. This place serves Taiwanese food and specializes in Beef Noodle Soup. Everything we ordered was really good, from the soup to the XLB to the braised side dishes. My group’s favorite was actually the popcorn chicken! It was fried perfectly and so flavorful. The soup in the chicken noodle soup and the beef noodle soup were also amazing. The chicken broth was more subtle but very comforting - it would seem like a good recovery meal after a fun night out :) Parking is plentiful in the big parking lot! Great option for Taiwanese in the area. XHS is reliable!
Broth is rich in beef flavor and the meat is really soft. Get the combo deal to try a bit of everything too. If you like spicy, there is one that almost tastes like hotpot. I really liked the chewy noodles.
We ordered the beef fried rice for the table and that was so good! Great flavor, great chew to the rice. Wasn’t dry and wasn’t mushy. I had C2 (beef shank, tendon, and tripe with handmade noodle soup). The shank was flavorful and tender. Tripe was thinly sliced which made it easier to eat since tendon tends to be a lot chewier. Tendon was soft all the way through. The handmade noodles were thick and chewy. It looks like less noodles than the thin and flat, but that’s just because they’re a lot bigger and thicker. Broth was flavorful, not too spicy. It came with a couple long leaves of Bok Choy, but I always wish beef noodle soup in general came with a little more. You can ask for the pickled mustard greens to add to your broth. They did goof a little on a couple of our orders and they didn’t come until everyone else was pretty much done with their food.
TLDR: food was pretty good but the portions are a bit small for the price The pork chop was $9 and it was supposed to be deep fried but it wasn’t really fried that crispy. It came out pretty juicy though. The beef noodle for $19 is a bit much. Yes the bowl is big but there is not as much noodle and meat as you would hope for such a big bowl though the meat was very tender and fell apart.
Visited Duan Cheng Zhen Beef Noodles yesterday and had a great experience. Their spicy hot pot beef noodles were delicious and had a wonderful kick, and the handmade noodles were super chewy, capturing that authentic Taiwanese flavor. Plus, their braised appetizer platter was also great—the beef tripe was nice and chewy and full of flavor, and the beef tendons were super tender and just melted in your mouth. The shrimp fried rice was a bit plain, but overall, it was a pretty good meal! 老火鍋牛肉麵! 牛肚牛肉麵!
I love this place. Their beef noodle soup is perfect. Tomato version is my go-to. Comes with 2 pieces shank and 2 pieces of tendon. Both are tender. The soup is very tomato-y which I like. Has a rich but balanced flavour. Noodles have a nice chew. One of my favourite spots!
